The Sant Eshwer Foundation was inaugurated and dedicated in the august memory of the late Shri Sant Ram Khanna and late Smt. Eshwer Devi Khanna.
The worthy souls hailed from a humble background in Lahore (present-day Pakistan). The brutal aftermath of undivided India’s partition led to the family’s migration to India. They continued to assist in community service through the catastrophic times as well and together became the fountainhead of a groundbreaking legacy.
Late Shri Khairati Lal Khanna was an ideal epitome of the values and principles laid by his elders. He embarked on an expedition to assist the poorest of the poor and uplift needy through responsible actions. He chiseled the conceptual undertaking that his revered parents had set and conceived the design of the Sant Eshwer Award Foundation. He pioneered a spirit which changed (and continues to change) the course of many lives across India each day.
Shri Kapil Khanna is a testament to the human spirit of social work. After completing his B.Sc from the University of Delhi, he dedicated his life to nurturing the seeds of change sown by his preceding generations. He strengthened his family’s association with the Rashtriya Swayam Sewak Sangh. Since childhood, he would often accompany his proficient father on his visits. He recollects one such occasion in early 1970s Vijayawada when the duo witnessed an elderly woman searching for food near the roadside garbage pail. Thither, his guru-like father imparted the holy temperament of Sewa to him and articulated that “helping all, should be the mission of our life”. The incident left a strong impression on him and he resolved to fulfil his father’s words of wisdom.
His continuous perseverance proved exceptional and in 1986 he was accorded the Udyog Ratan by the honorable President of India. He is the founder trustee of Mata Chandrakanta Smriti Seva Nyas Panipat and Sant Ishwar Shiksha Samiti, Jammu and Kashmir and has been running Gyan Deep Sewa Dham with Sewa Bharti, Haryana since 2002 and two schools of Bharatiya Shiksha Samiti in Jammu and Kashmir since 2018. He is conferred as Honorary President of the ‘World Brotherhood Organization’ and FICCI Executive Member. In the year 2014, he was also awarded a Ph.D. by the Open International University, Colombo. Currently, he is the President of Vishwa Hindu Parishad, Delhi.
