Bihar 2021
A distinct social service venture indulged in the betterment of existing standards of education and health in tribal areas.
If the life-bestowing mother doesn’t impart knowledge to the newly born one, then how will the child be able to gather practical education of life? Everyone on this earth must have worldly cognizance and health awareness to make life content and safe. They must also have appropriate systems along with education to become prosperous citizens. Talent and skills are equally necessary to secure livelihood and employment, as it enables people to become self-reliant.
All these essential things can’t be accessible together. In this purview, the Birsa Seva Prakalp operating from Bihar’s capital Patna is a special social service project. Through this innovative venture various districts of Bihar as well as Jharkhand’s inaccessible and tribal areas, Bal Sanskar Shalas, schools, sewing machine training centres and special camps for health awareness are set up.
Birsa Seva Prakalp runs 5 schools in both Bihar and Jharkhand. Outside Bihar, the Prakalp manages 11 Bal Sanskar Shalas. While, in Bihar, 5 sewing training centres for women are run by the same Prakalp. They have also played an effective role during frequent natural disasters. In the northern flood affected Bihar, the Prakalp delivered life safety equipment to about 3200 people. In the different districts of Patna, the Prakalp organized many health camps to spread health related awareness. Last year the Birsa Seva Prakalp presented about 160 sewing machines to women.
As a result, skilled women are trained for social service work and further create adequate employment. In the Bal Sanskar schools, more than 600 poor children are educated.
Birsa Seva Prakalp operating from Hanumant Ashram Rani Ghat, Mahendru, Patna is a voluntary organization which inspires institutions and social workers, effective in the service sector with their wide range of work and achievements.
In the 16 blocks of 7 flood affected districts of North Bihar, where there was challenging work, the Prakalp proved to be a blessing in disguise. They delivered food packets, tarpaulin, clothes, electronic lanterns and other essential items. The underlying crucial message embodied was that assisting at the time of crisis has its own importance. Besides, they also broke the myth that fundamentally social institutions only organise events or cultural programs. However, Birsa Seva Prakalp determined to shun fancy banners or photo sessions, stood with people in times of disaster. This exemplifies their authentic enlightenment. To facilitate this spirit of service, Sant Eshwer Foundation has honoured the Birsa Seva Prakalp with Sant Eshwer Samman for the year 2021.
